Gunfire hits homeson North, South sides
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three homes on the South Side and one on the North Side were shot at overnight. No one was injured.
City police reports show that a man, no age given, lying on the floor of his West Dewey Avenue home around 1:40 a.m. today was hit with glass after a bullet came through a window.
His wife, 29, was sleeping on the couch at the time. Police found a bullet.
About the same time, neighboring homes on West Glenaven Avenue and Summer Street were shot at. A teen at the Glenaven home said she had heard people in another neighboring home argue before shots rang out. Police found a bullet in the front window of the Summer Street home. Eleven spent casings were recovered from the home on Glenaven.
Around 12:25 a.m. today, a 42-year-old Raymond Street man reported that his house had been shot at. Police found one bullet.
Man reports a firebombhe found on his porch
YOUNGSTOWN -- City police are investigating a firebombing at a South Side home. An 18-year-old man reported that he removed the bomb from his Chalmers Avenue front porch before it caused damage. The man, who reported the situation Thursday, said the bomb was thrown around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
He said he has been receiving threatening phone calls and that someone had recently tried to break into the home.
Child-endangeringcharge from accident
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 28-year-old Campbell woman was arrested Thursday on a new charge of felony child endangering related to a July accident during which police say she was driving drunk.
Tammy L. Mastoris had been charged with driving under the influence July 2 after police were called to a one-car accident near Wilson and Himrod avenues.
Police reports say Mastoris and a 15-year-old passenger had been drinking. The teen told police that they had also smoked marijuana and that she had taken some prescription pain pills. Both were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where the woman refused treatment.
