Youngstown loses to Kennewick, Wa.
ABBEVILLE, La. -- The team from Kennewick, Wa. scored two runs with two out in the fourth inning to upend the Youngstown Babe Ruth League All-Stars 2-1 in the 13-year-old World Series Tuesday.
Youngstown (0-3) will play its fourth game today at 5:30 p.m.
In the first inning Frank LaRubbio singled and reached second when Tony Brunetti walked.
Dan Ronci singled to right to plate LaRubbio.
Cory Collins struck out six and yielded just four hits for Youngstown, which had more hits (5-4) but committed all four errors in the game.
Ursuline freshmanearns awards
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tyra A. Grant, who will be a freshman at Ursuline High, won four awards at the recent 5-star women's basketball camp at Robert Morris University.
Grant received trophies as MVP of the NCAA all-star game, MVP of the NCAA division playoff, league champions, and NCAA division most outstanding player.
Grant is the niece of former Youngstown State women's standout Wanda Grant (1978-81).
Jim Brown to speakat Niles event
NILES -- The Ohio Browns Boosters will present "An Evening With The Legend, Jim Brown" at McMenamy's Banquet Center in Niles on Aug. 28.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Appearing along with Brown will be former players Dick Schafrath, Reggie Rucker, Greg Pruitt, Don Cockroft and others.

Rogner defendsSquaw Creek title
VIENNA -- Katie Rogner, 13, of Hartford shot a 90 in the 13-15 age division to successfully defend her title in the Lee Wilkoff Junior Golf Tournament at Squaw Creek Country Club.
Rogner shot a 95 to win the 11-14 group at the Tam O'Shanter Tournament in Hermitage, Pa.
She is in eighth grade at St. Patrick School in Hubbard.
Columbiana Clipperhas golf openings

Nemergut to runat Edinboro U.
EDINBORO, Pa. -- South Range High graduate and distance runner Julie Nemergut has received a scholarship to continue her academic and running career at Edinboro University this fall.
Nemergut was an eight-time state qualifier in cross country and track for the Raiders and finished all-Ohio four times during her high school career.

Penguins top Swarmto win football title
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Youngstown Penguins defeated the Youngstown Swarm to win the Pittsburgh GoDeep 4-on-4 regional tournament.
The Penguins (56-3) defeated the Canton Goats 28-6, Columbus WCW Knights 34-7, and the Youngstown Swarm twice.
Members of the Penguins, who advanced to the national tournament, are Jason Moore, Mike Liberato, Steve Valley, Brian Teague, Bernard Bohla and Joey Savko.
Aeros top SeaWolves
ERIE, Pa. -- Corey Erickson homered twice and drove in six runs as the Akron Aeros defeated the Erie SeaWolves 12-4 in the Eastern League on Tuesday.
Akron improved to 80-44 and became the first team in baseball to reach 80 wins this season. Erie dropped to 46-75.
