LIBERTY Library wants feedback from area 'go-getters'

A meeting is scheduled for Sept. 14.
LIBERTY -- The Liberty branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is looking for a few good friends.
That's Friends of the Library, to be exact.
"The more the merrier," said Carol Corrado, branch manager.
Friends are volunteers who work closely with library staff to offer feedback and advice about their community's needs.
Those interested are asked to attend an organizational meeting at 2 p.m. Sept. 14, at the branch library in Liberty Plaza on Belmont Avenue.
"We'd like to start out with large group of 20 to 25," Corrado said, noting that some will drop out.
"We're looking for go-getters," she said, explaining that Friends range from young adults to retirees.
Activities
The Friends often plan and carry out their own activities, ranging from providing advice to fund raising and helping during special events.
Many similar groups have either an annual or ongoing book sale to raise money.
There are established groups at the main library in downtown Warren and at the Brookfield and Howland branches.
"At a time when we are looking at a new library facility, it's very important that we are able to call upon community supporters to assist us in this new venture," Corrado said.
A $1.1 million branch is under construction on 1.86 acres on Church Hill Road, next to the former Liberty High School.
Corrado said the new facility, triple the size of the current one, will be completed late this year or early next year.
The branch has been in the plaza 31/2 years.
