Man dies in crash
LIBERTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol at Southington is investigating a one-car crash that killed an unidentified man around 2 a.m. today.
The patrol said Youngstown police spotted a stolen car on the city's North Side and gave chase.
When police lost sight of the vehicle, they asked the patrol for assistance. Troopers located the vehicle in a wooded area off St. Andrew Drive in Liberty, with a man they think was the driver lying about 70 feet from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Girl in critical condition
VIENNA -- A 15-year-old Brookfield girl was in critical condition this morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center with injuries she suffered when she was thrown from a vehicle that overturned on top of a guardrail Monday.
Megan L. Bolen of South Park Circle was a passenger who wasn't wearing a seat belt, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol at Southington.
The driver, Alyssa M. Bolen, 17, of the same address, who was treated for a minor injury at St. Elizabeth's, was wearing a seat belt.
The driver was coming off state Route 82 to state Route 11 when she lost control on the ramp, the patrol said.
The relationship between the girls and other details were not available this morning.
2 face drug charges
NILES -- Two city men are facing charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs.
Roger Boggs, 37, of North Road and 61-year-old Robert Nelan of Clay Street were arrested Saturday afternoon after being accused of selling Vicodin tablets to undercover officers.
They were arraigned in Niles Municipal Court on Monday and will appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. next Monday.
Nelan posted a $5,000 bond, but Boggs remains in jail under the same amount.
Vicodin is a prescription painkiller.
Man reports theft
NILES -- A 58-year-old Mason Street man told police he thinks he was drugged and robbed by two women he knows.
According to police, the man said the women came to his home at 9 p.m. Sunday to use his phone and they drugged his beer.
When he awoke, the women were gone, along with banking and credit card information and $640.
The man said the women have stolen from him in the past.
Scholarship dinner
WARREN -- Trumbull Mobile Meals will have a scholarship memorial dinner for Richard J. Maloney, who died in April.
Maloney retired from Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital after 25 years as director of food services. He also was instrumental in the formation of Trumbull Mobile Meals and served for 30 years as a volunteer with the organization.
Dinner Downunder will be Saturday at the Outback Steakhouse near the Eastwood Mall in Niles. A minimum donation of $15 will be charged for a steak, chicken or salmon dinner.
All proceeds go a dietetic or hospitality management student at Youngstown State University.
Maloney, who died in Florida where he had lived since July 2001, also taught classes at YSU.

Guilty plea in sex case
WARREN -- A 25-year-old Girard woman has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
Jennifer Wilson of West Howard Street entered the plea Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. She will be sentenced after a background check, Judge Peter Kontos said.
Thomas Wrenn, an assistant county prosecutor, said Wilson could face up to 18 months in prison.
Wrenn said Wilson had sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl in June. Atty. Anthony Consoldane of the public defender's commission said the girl told Wilson she was 18.
Hearing set in shooting
GIRARD -- A preliminary hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22 in Girard Municipal Court for Paul Henderson, 18, of Youngstown on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault in a shooting at a Liberty Township apartment.
Henderson, of East Judson Avenue, is in the Trumbull County jail under $50,000 bond. He is charged in the Feb. 20 shooting of Robert Osenforth at Osenforth's Northgate Avenue apartment.
