House fire in Hermitage kills 2 pet cats
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- No one was injured, but two pet cats lost their lives in a fire at the Ronald Nickleson residence at 180 Ellis Ave.
Fire Marshal Robert Goeltz said the blaze broke out around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and the interior of the garage and the outside rear of the house was ablaze when the first crews arrived.
The blaze was confined to the garage and entryway into the house but the entire structure suffered heat and smoke damage, Goeltz said.
Members of the Nickleson family were able to escape, he said.
The cause is under investigation but is believed to be accidental, Goeltz said. The loss is covered by insurance, he said.
