Region River Romp features Allegheny

OIL CITY, Pa. -- Food and a variety of activities will be featured Sept. 13-15 during the fifth annual Region River Romp. The romp is a series of events centered on events near or on the Allegheny River.
A frog jump and stone-skipping event will take place on Sept. 14
On Sept. 13, the Emlenton Kiwanis Club will hold an evening fish fry in downtown Emlenton, where participants can also sign up for the weekend-long fishing derby.
The Kennerdell Arts Festival on Sept. 15 will feature live musical performances by Cahal Dunne and "New Morning," as well as amateur and professional arts competitions.
Admission, including door prize tickets and parking, is $10 per carload, or $5 if there is only one occupant in the vehicle. Free kayak rides, an oil barge race, storytelling, a bonfire, barbecue and more will be offered Sept. 14 during Family Day at Franklin's Riverfront Park.
Guided jetboat rides to Indian God Rock will be available Sunday, departing each hour from Franklin's Third Street Ramp.
The Allegheny River Canoe Race is Sunday morning, from the Oil City Marina to the Franklin Trailhead. The Allegheny River Bass Tournament will be held the next Sunday, Sept. 22.
