Amron champions
CANFIELD -- Annie Bundy and Lloyd Hays rolled 1,525 to nail down the 30th annual Mar-Hill Mixed Doubles Bowling Tournament, which concluded at Amron Lanes recently.
The unofficial winners were followed by Donna Kincaid and Ray Heaven with 1,508 and Vivian Archer and Fred Leach with 1,506. Alexis Riffle and Lloyd Nichols finished fourth with 1,502.

Driver killed
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- A crash killed a driver at the Pocono International Raceway on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Detectives from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department investigated the accident, but no further details were released early Monday morning.
The NASCAR-sanctioned Pocono International Raceway in Monroe County is best known for hosting popular Winston Cup events and is often referred to as Pocono Raceway.
Aeros win
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Nate Grindell hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning as the Akron Aeros beat the Harrisburg Senators 6-5 Sunday in the Eastern League.
Grindell's sacrifice fly off reliever Ron Chiavacci (5-9) scored Luis Garcia, who led off the inning with a double and moved to third on Victor Martinez's groundout.
Marcos Mendoza (2-4), the second of three Akron pitchers, got the victory with three innings of scoreless relief. Ryan Larson worked a perfect ninth inning for his sixth save.
Akron rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to win the game.
John Peralta had a two-run double off starter Darwin Marrero in the fifth and in the seventh a throwing error by Harrisburg third baseman Scott Hodges led to three unearned runs off Chiavacci in the seventh inning.
Harrisburg took a 5-0 lead off Akron starter Fernando Cabrera on Terrmel Sledge's two-run triple in the first inning and a three-run rally in the third.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Teams from Japan, Guam, the Netherlands Antillies and Venezuela won regional tournaments to advance to the 2002 Little League Baseball World Series.
A team from Valencia, Venezuela, beat Curundu, Panama, 3-2 to take the Latin America Region title Sunday in Managua, Nicaragua.
On Saturday, Sendai Higashi Little League of Sendai, Japan, beat a team from Seoul, South Korea 6-1 in the championship game of the Asia Region Tournament in Manila, Philippines.
Guam beat Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, 6-2 in the final Saturday of the Pacific Region Tournament, also in Manila.
Pariba Little League of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, beat Adalberto Rodrigues Little League of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, 17-1 Saturday in the Caribbean Region Championship in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
All teams open play in the Little League Baseball World Series on Aug. 17. Guam plays the Latin America Region champion at 11 a.m., Curacao plays at 4 p.m. against Monterrey, Mexico, and Japan plays the European champion from Moscow at 6 p.m.
Sixteen teams from around the world will take part in the series for 11- to 12-year-olds in Williamsport Aug. 16-25.

Williams makes itthree straight
CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Venus Williams was simply overwhelming -- again.
Relying on her power game and court coverage, the top-seeded Williams won her third consecutive Acura Classic, defeating sixth-seeded Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia 6-2, 6-2 in the tournament final at La Costa Resort and Spa.
Williams has now won 27 WTA tournaments.

ARLES, France -- Four Olympic champions embroiled in an ice skating scandal denied allegations that the results were fixed to ensure their victories.
French ice dancers Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat and the Russian pairs champions, Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, defended themselves against allegations that a Russian mobster arranged a vote-swapping deal.
