Group to honor Williams
YOUNGSTOWN -- McCullough Williams Jr., a political and community leader for more than five decades, will receive Youngstown State University's Alumni Relations Distinguished Citizen Award at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman.
Williams, a former member of Youngstown City Council and president of the Youngstown Board of Education, also will speak at YSU's summer commencement 10 a.m. Saturday in Beeghly Center.
A graduate of South High School and Ohio State University, Williams owns the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Homes in Youngstown and Warren.
He is president of the YSU Penguin Club and a trustee of the Butler Institute of American Art and District XI Area Agency on Aging Inc. He also is on the board of trustees of the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center and the Youngstown-Mahoning County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
