WEST FARMINGTON -- Despite the use of a search plane and cruisers, officers were unable to catch a man who fled on a four-wheeler.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and Trumbull County deputy sheriffs spent about four hours Wednesday looking for Robert W. Bosley, 25, of High Street.
A spokesman with the Southington post of the patrol said two troopers and a deputy went to Bosley's home Wednesday morning to discuss a one-vehicle crash about 6:30 that morning on state Route 88.
A deputy went with troopers to Bosley's home because Bosley was wanted on a misdemeanor probation violation warrant from Newton Falls Municipal Court.
DUI conviction
Bosley is on probation from a conviction of driving under the influence, police said.
When Bosley saw officers approaching his home, he crawled out a basement window and fled on a four-wheeler, the patrol said.
OSP Sgt. Joe Dragovich started to chase Bosley but hurt his foot.
Authorities said Bosley fled into a cornfield off Route 88.
According to Trumbull County 911 officials, about 10 deputies and several troopers were called to the rural area in northwest Trumbull County.
A highway patrol airplane was sent to help search for Bosley.
Officials said one reason they continued searching was because they thought he might have been injured in the earlier crash. Police said it appeared Bosley was bleeding from a large cut.
Officials called off the search around 4 p.m., declining to say if they would continue the search today.
The patrol said charges against Bosley are pending.
