Gathering of Irish clans
YOUNGSTOWN -- The sixth annual "Gathering of the Irish Clans" will take place Aug. 18 at St. Maron's Recreation Area, 1555 S. Meridian Road.
The event features a variety of Irish foods and entertainment. There also will be an Irish marketplace and children's activities. Mass will be at 11 a.m.
Gates open at 10 a.m. Admission is $5. Children 12 and under get in free with a paid adult admission.
Skate Zone fund-raiser
YOUNGSTOWN -- Skating, adventure golf and laser tag will be available at The Skate Zone Family Fun Center on Aug. 18 during a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association.
A $10 ticket includes pizza, soft drinks and $2 in game tokens. Patrons also can register for a raffle for Cleveland Indians tickets.
The event is intended to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke.
