Tips for controlling mosquitoes:
Homeowners should remove standing water from their yards to prevent mosquito breeding. This season's dry weather has helped keep the mosquito population down.
Keep pools covered, clean and chlorinated. Change birdbath water weekly. Make sure gutters operate properly.
Use an insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors at dusk or dawn. Do not use it on children younger than 2. Wear light colors, long sleeves and pants, socks and shoes.
