PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL Western Reserve gets help from Luke Srock



Vince MacLarren's hit for J-M broke up Dustin Rivera's no-hitter for McDonald.
VIENNA -- Luke Srock hit an RBI triple to score Andrew Lenhart and later scored in the top of the ninth inning as Western Reserve High beat Mathews 6-4 in Inter-County League baseball action Monday night.
Ben Martin had two doubles and an RBI for the Blue Devils (13-5, 9-2). Jason Young (2-3) went the first eight innings, striking out nine and walking two, to pick up the win.
Matt Dakolios had three hits, including a triple and a double, and Adam Englebaugh added two hits for Mathews.
Jackson-Milton 4, McDonald 2: McDONALD -- Jackson-Milton's Vince MacLarren hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to break up Dustin Rivera's no-hitter.
Lee Keck pitched a two-hitter for the Bluejays, striking out five and walking one to earn the victory. Rivera (1-2) had a two-run home run in the fourth and struck out 10 batters for the Blue Devils (3-10, 3-7 ICL).
Boardman 13, Poland 3: BOARDMAN -- Mark Sikora had four hits and six RBIs as the Spartans (15-0) stayed undefeated in the six-inning game.
Andy Good, Sean Curry, Sean Weyant and Giancarlo Silvestri each had two hits for Boardman. Matt Repec added a three-run home run and Curry had three RBIs.
For Poland (8-4), Sean Clayton had two hits, including a double.
Lakeview 10, Badger 0: CORTLAND -- Lakeview's Ben Barnett (2-3) pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none in five innings in a Trumbull Athletic Conference win over Badger (4-5, 4-5).
Dick Thomas had two hits, including a double, and B.J. Paczak had a double. Tyler Furrie added two RBIs for Lakeview (8-4, 7-3).
Softball: CORTLAND -- Tied 1-1, Lakeview's Anita Dilley led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk, was bunted to second and scored on pinch-hitter Stefanie Duda's single as the Bulldogs (11-0, 10-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference) stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 victory over Badger.
Lakeview pitcher Heather Fink improved to 11-0 and had three hits. Alana Logan added two hits for Badger.
West Branch 5, Canfield 0: BELOIT -- West Branch's Nikki Pierce (9-6) pitched a six-hit shutout as the Warriors improved to 11-7.
Deidre Snively had two hits and two runs for West Branch. Megan Turocy added a double for Canfield (7-9).
