Howland man guilty in stabbings

WARREN -- A 21-year-old Howland man who acted as his own attorney has been convicted of several charges.
Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court found Tommy R. Reese guilty of two counts of felonious assault, two counts of attempted murder and one count each of criminal damaging and aggravated menacing.
The judge issued the ruling Monday after a four-hour trial.
Reese, who wore his jail coveralls during the trial, opted to have his case heard by the judge instead of a jury.
Charles Morrow, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, said Reese could get up to 28 years in prison.
Judge Logan said Reese will be sentenced May 7.
Howland police said that on July 30, Reese and a family member began arguing and Reese started stabbing the relative.
Police said the relative ran outside and as Reese chased him, a passer-by who lived on the street stopped his car and tried to intervene.
Reese began stabbing that man, too. One of the victims was able to get away and call police.
No serious injuries were reported.
