COLUMBIANA CORNER Inattention angers wife

A report at the Salem Police Department recently was captioned, "Distressed Female."
The document outlined the case of a Fairview Court woman who summoned police about 5 o'clock one weekday morning to complain about her husband.
She told officers she was angry with her spouse because he wouldn't talk to her and refuses to help around the house.
Police responding to the call noted that there were no violations of law suggested by the husband's alleged behavior.
"Officers attempted to calm the complainant before leaving the scene," the report concluded.
True dedication
Serving his first term on Columbiana City Council, Councilman William Kimpel showed his dedication to the post and the city Friday by attending an early-morning, special council meeting.
Kimpel and his family were in the midst of making funeral arrangements for his father, William Johnston Kimpel, 69, who died Wednesday evening.
Council met Friday under a deadline to act on the city's first labor agreement with the police department. With two of six members out of town, council would not have had a quorum of members necessary to vote if Kimpel had not attended the meeting.
