West Branch swept its way past Crestview.
LEETONIA -- Western Reserve High freshman Katie Harmon fired a no-hitter, striking out 17 batters and walking two in the 23 she faced, as the Blue Devils beat Leetonia 12-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
Western Reserve also won the second game 16-3.
Junior Tiffany Shugart paced the Blue Devils' attack with three hits and four RBIs. Freshman Quinn McCammon had a double and triple for three RBIs for Western Reserve (11-1).
Shugart limited the Bears to two hits while contributing two hits and three RBIs.
Theressa Polack had two doubles and Teri Bader had three hits and three RBIs for the Blue Devils.
Springfield 7, Canton Central Catholic 0: NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Senior Maggie Marsh pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts, while Lindsay Johnson had two singles.
Champion 7, Springfield 0: NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Lauren Seafert pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts, and also contributed a double, two singles and two RBIs on offense.
Jessica Carpenter added two singles for the Flashes (8-6).
West Branch 6-4, Crestview 3-3: COLUMBIANA -- In the opener, Nikki Pierce (8-6) struck out 13 to break her own record of strikeouts in a game and season for the Warriors (10-7).
Taylor Woods and Angela Meier each had three hits in the first game for West Branch.
Woods had two hits in the second game for the Warriors.
