YOUNGSTOWN -- The 21 Democratic precinct committee members in the city's 7th Ward are to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bobby D's Restaurant to appoint a new council member. Any candidate interested in the seat must send the Mahoning County Democratic Party a letter of intent postmarked by midnight today to P.O. Box 812, Youngstown 44501. The appointment will fill the vacancy left when the party appointed John R. Swierz, former 7th Ward councilman, to the empty council president seat.
Voting machines
YOUNGSTOWN -- The computerized voting machines to be used during the May 7 primary election will be on display Monday in the Give the Children A Chance offices in the Phar-Mor building on Federal Plaza. City residents are welcome to stop by to see how they work and learn how to use them at either 10 a.m. to noon or 4 to 6 p.m.
