Wilson gets first baseball win

Girard's Steve Procner pitched his second straight no-hitter in a 10-0 win over LaBrae.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Wilson High boys baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak as it turned back Rayen School 10-7 Wednesday in a City Series game.
It was the first win of the season for the Redmen (1-6, 1-2), who scored five runs in the second inning and three more in the third.
Marcus Phillipi hit three singles, drove in three runs, scored twice and stole a base for Wilson. Juawan Gray, Matt McBride and Travis Butterfield each had two hits.
Girard 10, LaBrae 0: LEAVITTSBURG -- Steve Procner pitched his second straight no-hitter and he struck out seven. Last Friday, Procner no-hit Brookfield in a 1-0 victory.
Tim Breese hit three singles, drove in three run, scored twice and stole two bases for the Indians (10-2, 7-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference) in the win over LaBrae.
Boardman 19, Chaney 5: YOUNGSTOWN -- The Spartans (10-0) scored six runs in the fourth inning and 10 in the sixth to turn the game into a rout. Matt Repec, Sean Gary, Steve Franklin and Ryan Vaughn each had three hits for Boardman, which totaled 20 hits. Gary Boris led the Cowboys (7-5) with two hits.
Niles 9, Struthers 8: NILES -- Matt Brown singled in the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jared Bogan led the Wildcats with a double and single, while Matt Bradley and Bob Benson each had two hits.
Alliance 16, Salem 13: SALEM -- Alliance pushed across six runs in the top of the seventh inning to win the slugfest. The teams combined for 30 hits and 10 errors.
Freshman Grant Sevek, Andy Place and Brian Schwartz had three hits apiece for the Quakers (3-14). Sevek also scored three runs. Travis Milliron and Ken Buckley both doubled and singled, while Zac Grey and Jason Paster both singled twice. Buckley and Paster also had three RBIs each.
Denny Winner homered and drove in four runs for Alliance (4-9). Eric Gustafson added three hits, including a triple, and scored four runs.
Hubbard 10, Howland 0: HUBBARD -- A seven-run second inning that included seven hits keyed the Eagles' victory. Matt Yanik, James Yohman and Dean Marshall each had two hits for Hubbard.
Ursuline 4, Warren Harding 3: WARREN -- Erin Satterlee hit two doubles, while Brad Borghetti and Cliff Panezich each hit a double and single for Irish (3-7, 2-4 Steel Valley Conference). Satterlee also hit a single, drove in a run and scored twice. Borghetti drove in two runs.
Warren JFK 7, Campbell 1: WARREN -- It was the second time this season that Warren JFK (8-2) topped Campbell (7-3). Allen Hoover (1-1) scattered four hits and struck out six to pick up the win.
Lakeview 5, Champion 3: CORTLAND -- Lakeview scored four runs in the third inning as Jarret Hutton singled and went to second on an error. Phil Butch singled. Hutton then scored on a double play. Dick Thomas singled and Torrie Franglamore was hit by a pitched ball. Matt Irish then doubled home both runners.
Liberty 6, Brookfield 2: LIBERTY -- Liberty scored all the runs it needed in the first inning as it pushed across three.
Mike Smallwood (2-0) scattered three hits and struck out 10 as he went the distance two pick up the win for the Leopards (3-4, 2-4 TAC).
Mathews 6, Lowellville 1: LOWELLVILLE -- Marc Burcham scattered four hits as he went the distance to pick up the win for Mathews. Crew Carpenter hit a double for the Mustangs.
Mineral Ridge 5, McDonald 0: MCDONALD -- Rams' pitcher Nate Zimmerman evened his season record at (2-2) and teammate Kevin Garland hit a two-run home run for Mineral Ridge (7-6, 5-2 Inter-County League) in the first inning.
Pymatuning Valley 12, Painesville Harvey 2: ANDOVER -- Steve Ault (3-1) fired a two-hitter and struck out three to pick up the win. Ryan Fuller and Mike Holcomb each hit two doubles for Pymatuning Valley (5-4, 2-1).
Southeast 15, Streetsboro 3: STREETSBORO -- Steve Dillon (4-0) of the Pirates scattered nine hits in going the distance to pick up the win Tuesday. Brent Hilliard hit a double and three singles to pace Southeast, while Dillon hit a double, single and drove in five runs.
