Traficant says jail term is inevitable

YOUNGSTOWN -- U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. said he will be incarcerated.
"I am going to go to jail. I know that as a fact. This judge will send me to jail," Traficant said of U.S. District Judge Lesley Brooks Wells, who presided over the racketeering trial in which a jury convicted him on all 10 counts.
Traficant made his remarks Wednesday evening on Fox News in the third and final segment of a TV interview taped by Greta Van Susteren.
"I will be glad to come before the joint [House] ethics committee and judiciary committee, subject to any and all questions in an open public forum. Without an open public forum, I may just let them [Congressional representatives] vote to expel me without even showing up because I think we do too much behind closed doors," Traficant said.
Van Susteren, who had sought public comment by e-mail, said most comments Fox received were favorable to Traficant.
