YOUNGSTOWN Man faces charge of intimidation

YOUNGSTOWN -- The case of a man accused of threatening a witness in municipal court as he awaited a preliminary hearing on a felony aggravated burglary charge has been bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury.
Kevin Hunter, 20, formerly of East Philadelphia Avenue, faces a new felony charge of intimidation of a witness. During a court hearing Tuesday, municipal Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. bound the intimidation case over and ordered a $30,000 bond on the charge.
Hunter is also being held in lieu of $100,000 bond in the aggravated burglary case, which includes misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing and domestic violence.
On Monday, court officials said, Hunter appeared in court for the burglary case and threatened a witness in front of an assistant city prosecutor. Judge Robert P. Milich at that time revoked bonds totaling $30,000 and reset bonds at $100,000.
In the burglary case, Hunter is accused of kicking in the door of his former live-in girlfriend April 8, pulling a gun and chasing and threatening to kill her.
The witness Hunter is accused of threatening in court is a neighbor of the girlfriend's. The neighbor, 23, told police Hunter also had threatened her, reaching for a gun, when she stopped at a South Side gas station on the way to the Monday court hearing. Hunter's lawyer, Don Hanni, said his client plans to waive the preliminary hearing on the burglary case and have it also bound over to the grand jury.
