Campbell board to get new wiring bids

CAMPBELL -- The board of education will rebid work pertaining to the installation of wiring and technology in the two schools under construction.
All bids submitted for the technology packages for the new school, which will house kindergarten through grade eight, and the addition to and upgrading of the high school were rejected, said schools Superintendent James A. Ciccolelli during a special meeting Tuesday morning. The board approved a resolution rebidding the work.
The bids were rejected because changes were made in the plans, Ciccolelli said, and bids did not accurately reflect work to be done.
The technology packages include specifications for wiring that will support computer and telephone systems in both buildings. Because the buildings are nearing completion, acting to rebid the project immediately was an "urgent necessity," Ciccolelli said. "I will probably call an emergency meeting again to approve the technology contract once we identify the low bidder."
He expected bids to be advertised as soon as today; a low bidder could be identified within two weeks. The technology packages for both schools were advertised for bid as a single package, he added, "because we want to have the same technology districtwide."
The board also approved a contract with Lorco Business Systems to provide "loose furnishings" for the elementary/middle school. Loose furnishings include pupil desks, chairs and cafeteria tables.
The contract calls for the expenditure of $240,122.82 in Ohio State Facilities Commission funds and $4,746.90 in local funds.
