Man charged in robberies, mugging

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Police said they linked a city man to two convenience store robberies and a mugging through store videotapes and witnesses.
Nathan Clark, 43, of McGrath Manor faces three counts of robbery, two counts of theft and one count each of receiving stolen property and simple assault. His preliminary hearing is set Friday before District Justice Melissa Amodie.
West Side Mini Mart
Police said a man matching Clark's description went into the West Side Mini Mart on West Washington Street at 10:30 p.m. last Tuesday and demanded money. When the clerk refused to hand over the cash, the man grabbed money from the register and ran off, they said.
Police said another man matching Clark's description demanded money from a clerk at Pennzmart on Highland Avenue at 5:15 a.m. Friday before running off with more money.
Both robberies were videotaped, police said.
Man assaulted
Clark is also accused of mugging a man in his apartment building.
Police said a man was unlocking his apartment door when someone came up behind him, covered his mouth and pushed him to the ground at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. About $700 was taken from the victim's pocket, police said.
Another person in the building told police that Clark was carrying a roll of duct tape earlier in the day and said Clark told her he was going to rob the victim.
