BOXING Lou Bizzarro Jr. on Expo Dome fight card

Another member of the Bizzarro family, lightweight Ernie, will be making his first appearance in the Valley.

NILES -- A star-studded boxing card is slated for May 11, at the new Expo Dome, located next to the Eastwood Mall. The card will be televised by Showtime-Showbox.
The show is being promoted by Power Pac Productions and Mike Acri Boxing Promotions. Tom Sharp and Dominic Baragona of Baragona Enterprises will also be involved in the promotion.
Lou Bizzarro Jr. (16-1) whose opponent has not been announced, will be featured in one of the two featured, televised bouts. He'll share the co-main event with Juan Guzman (12-0), whose opponent will also be announced at a later date.
Latest outcome
Bizzarro is coming off a unanimous decision over Hector Ramirez in a preliminary bout on the David Tua-Fres Oquendo title fight at Mountaineer Park on April 13. The talented boxer is looking for a junior welterweight fight in the near future.
Guzman is a very impressive fighter and is considered championship material.
"There are a lot of undefeated fighters on this card," said Mike Cefalde, who along with Gregg Augustine and Mike Pavlik make up Power Pac Productions. "We are excited about the fighters coming in and this is as good a card as any in our area. Six of the eight fighters are undefeated and will lead to better things in the future."
The first bout will start at 3 p.m.. and the whole show will conclude by 7. Among those slated to appear are: Rico Tann, (4-0-2) a junior middleweight and Jesse Conclas (7-0), a cruiserweight, both of whom are from Canada.
Another member of the Bizzarro family, Ernie (1-0), will be making his first appearance in the Valley, as a lightweight. Youngstown's Bob Reber, who had a successful debut on March 16, winning by unanimous decision, will also be on the undercard.
"Push Up"
A special attraction will be Robert "Push Up" Frazer of New York. He is a junior middleweight who fought Ken Sigurani in Struthers a couple of years ago and also met Robert West. He is no stranger to local fight fans and is a very good pro.
Another banger is Danny Maldonado of Kentucky. The up and coming featherweight carries a record of 8-0, all by knockout.
For Lou Bizzarro Jr., he would like to follow his father's and his Uncle John's footsteps, that being a world title shot. Lou Sr. fought Roberto Duran on May 22, 1976, losing by knockout in the 14th. John lost a tough fight to Carlos Ortiz on June 20, 1966 by KO in 12 rounds. He also lost a tough 15-round decision to Flashe Elorde for the junior lightweight title in 1963.
"I like fighting in the Youngstown area," said Bizzarro. "My goal is to fight for a major title in the future and I am in shape and I am excited about fighting in the Niles-Warren and Youngstown area as I have many fans there. It is a like a second home to me."
