BATTERY ROUNDUP Safety tips

The American Automobile Association recommends that people transporting used batteries exercise caution. Consumers are urged to:
Wear safety gloves and glasses while handling batteries.
Keep them upright.
Place batteries in a cardboard box or plastic container while moving them.
If a battery is cracked or leaking, use a leak-proof container.
Do not smoke or have any open flame near batteries.
Position batteries so they will not shift or tip over in a moving vehicle.
