Organ donor awareness
Two young heart transplant recipients will be at UPMC Horizon's event, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shenango Valley Campus, 2200 Memorial Drive, Farrell, to recognize National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week, today through Saturday.
UPMC Horizon is offering free donor pins, registration cards and information at the hospital's Shenango Valley Campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday near the center court at Shenango Valley Mall, state Routes 62 and 18.
Grief teleconference
HOWLAND -- Selby-Cole Funeral Home, Vienna, and Hospice Foundation of America offer "Living With Grief: Loss in Later Life," the hospice foundation's ninth annual living with grief teleconference, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Avalon Inn and Resort. The teleconference, moderated by Cokie Roberts of ABC News, provides an education forum in which a panel of experts discusses ways that health care and other professionals can better understand and respond to the needs of older people faced with end-of-life decisions.
