Fun night and reverse raffle planned as scholarship benefit



Proceeds will be applied to college scholarships presented by the organization.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Boardman Optimist Club will hold its 11th annual Fun Night Friday at the Italian-American Veterans Centre, 115 S. Meridian Road.
Featured at the event will a dinner, cards and the Charles Harasom Memorial Reverse Raffle, held in memory of the club's past president.
Activities will get under way at 6 p.m. with a social hour and open bar followed by buffet dinner at 7.
In addition to $2,000 to be awarded during the reverse raffle, there will be a wide variety of prizes, including a television set, wine and cash awards. There also will be a side board, where cash prizes will be awarded to winning numbers.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the club's college scholarship fund, headed by Bill Lowery and Chet Horlick.
Among those serving on the project committee for the event are Fred Kirven, Bob Patrick, Marty Yanic, David Croutch and Kevin Duncan.

The organization also provides support for other philanthropic events, including an oratorical contest, junior golf championship, a mentor program at Boardman Middle School, Little League ball teams and a challenger team
