WARREN -- A 36-year-old mother who pleaded guilty to child endangering has been sentenced to 60 days in the county jail.
Judge John Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court sentenced Angelique Bailey of Bristol on Thursday. Bailey declined to comment.
The judge also ordered Bailey to serve four years' probation, attend parenting classes, receive mental health counseling and abstain from illegal drugs and alcohol. He also instructed her to get a job.
Bailey could have received up to five years in prison.
About the case
Bailey left her then-5-year-old daughter and her two other children in July with the 14-year-old son of her boyfriend, Roy E. McDaniel.
While Bailey and McDaniel were out of town, the 5-year-old was raped by the 14-year-old in the state Route 88 home McDaniel and Bailey shared with the their children. The girl spent several weeks in a hospital.
McDaniel's son Thomas J. pleaded guilty in juvenile court in October to one delinquency charge of rape. He was sentenced to one to seven years in an Ohio Department of Youth Services facility.
Boyfriend's sentence
Roy McDaniel was sentenced earlier this month to 45 days in jail. He also pleaded guilty to one count of child endangering. He also is on four years' probation, must stay employed and must not use illegal drugs and alcohol.
Thomas McDaniel told authorities he was often left alone in charge of younger children for days at a time.
Bailey has four children, who are 8, 5, 2, and 10 months old. McDaniel is the father of Thomas and the 8-year-old.
All of the children are in the custody of Trumbull County Children Services.
The youngest child, then 2 months, was with Bailey and McDaniel on their trip.
Their house has been condemned by the county health department.
