Two recuperate from shootings

LISBON -- Two Columbiana County men hospitalized in unrelated shootings are progressing in their recovery.
Gregory Doak, 44, of Knox Township, may be discharged from Akron City Hospital in the next seven to 10 days, Detective Jerry Herbert of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.
Doak is a suspect in the April 7 shooting death of Teresa Stoffer, 42, also of Knox Township.
Authorities say Doak gunned down Stoffer outside her mobile home and later turned his firearm on himself.
The shooting was sparked by domestic strife between Doak and his estranged wife, who was Stoffer's friend and neighbor. Doak has not been charged.
Also expected to recover is Thomas Rice, 55, of Madison Township, Herbert said.
Rice is in Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after being shot seven times April 10.
Rice was in critical condition after the shooting, which occurred at his home along state Route 7.
Michaelene Duffy, 43, of Center Township, is charged with felonious assault in Rice's shooting.
Investigators say the two had quarreled after Rice evicted Duffy several months ago from property he owns.
