At Wednesday's meeting:
Chief engineer David Tabak reported Meander Reservoir is at 100 percent capacity, with 11 billion gallons. Water quality is "relatively good" on taste and odor and the hardness, Tabak said.
The board awarded contracts for chemicals. Tabak said the cost to treat water with chemicals is now $57 per million gallons. The annual contracts beginning July 1 include a slight decrease.
The contracts are: Huron Lime Co., Huron, pebble quick lime, $69.56 per ton; Solvay Chemical, Houston, Texas, soda ask, $183 per ton; Jones Chemical, Barberton, liquid chlorine, $212 per ton; LCI Ltd., Jacksonville, Fla., hydro-fluosilicic acid, $146 per ton; Tanner Industries, South Hampton, Pa., anhydrous ammonia, $520 per ton; U.S. Aluminate, Baltimore, liquid sodium aluminate, $210.05 per ton; Carus Chemical Co., Peru, Ill., potassium permanganate, $2,639.20 per ton; Bonded Chemical Co., Columbus, powered activated carbon, $628 per ton; Bonded Chemical, copper sulfate, $1,132 per ton.
