WEATHERSFIELD -- A 48-year-old township man died early today when he fell off his bike.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Christopher L. Lewis of Earl Street was riding along West Park Avenue at 2:49 a.m. when the bike hit a chuck hole.
Lewis fell, striking his head on the pavement.
Hubbard fire chief
HUBBARD -- David Kyle has been named chief of the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department.
Kyle, funeral director with Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home and veteran department member, replaces Robert Hogg, who retired.
The department has jurisdiction in Hubbard and Hubbard Township.
Kyle served as first assistant fire chief under Hogg. John Bulmer is now the first assistant chief.
Liberty schedulescommunity yard sale
LIBERTY -- A community yard sale will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 11, at the township administration building on Churchill-Hubbard Road.
Spaces cost $10 each. Proceeds go to Relay for Life.
Other activities include food, baseball games, DJ Collaboration from 6 to 9 p.m. and a moonlight baseball game at 9 p.m.

Rust spill in Warren
WARREN -- Trumbull County Hazardous Materials team and Warren Township fire crews spent several hours cleaning up a rust spill on West Market Street.
A spokesman for the fire department and 911 officials said a truck picked up trash at Thomas Steel Strip Corp. around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday and was going to Warren Recycling Inc. on Martin Luther King Ave. S.W. when the load spilled.
The rust, which was contaminated with chromium and lead, caused part of West Market to be closed for several hours.
Girard High forum
GIRARD -- Girard High School will conduct a forum from 6 to 8 p.m. May 1 in the auditorium regarding curriculum, scheduling and student activities in grades seven through 12 for next school year.
Trumbull center setswork-study banquet
WARREN -- Trumbull County Educational Service Center will have its work-study program banquet at 6 p.m. April 25 in DiVieste's Banquet Room, 754 North River Road, to honor students from 19 school districts and the Trumbull Career and Technical Center and the Gordon D. James Career Center.
This year's banquet includes more than 500 students and adults, making it one of the largest work-study banquets in the state, officials said.

Fuel Mart robbery
NILES -- An employee at Fuel Mart, West Park Avenue, told police a man came into the store early Tuesday, ordered him to open the cash register, took the money and left. The man also took seven instant lottery tickets.
New elections clerk
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Board of Elections has hired a new clerk.
Stephanie Roberts of Mineral Ridge will replace a clerk who retired in December, said Norma Williams, director of the board.
Roberts will earn $24,000 a year.
