Deputy director will take over

SHARON, Pa. -- Rosette C. Fisher, deputy director of the city's Community Development Department, will take over the post of executive director June 1.
Fisher's appointment was announced Monday by Mayor David O. Ryan, who said her annual salary is set at $45,000. Fisher succeeds Joseph Caminiti, 64, who announced he will retire May 31 after 29 years.
Her qualifications
Fisher, who joined the community development office in 1981 as a receptionist, has worked her way up through the ranks, having served as a secretary, rehabilitation specialist, rehabilitation inspector and deputy director. She also served as acting executive director twice.
She was 1990 and 2000 census liaison for the city and is the systems administrator for all software programs used by the department.
Fisher has had considerable experience in writing and administering federal and state grant programs and said she wants to seek new grants for the city.
There are federal and state grant programs that the city may be able to tap to finance new programs, such as its first-time homebuyer project for low- and moderate-income people, Fisher said.
Other grants
The city may also be able to get grants to supplement its federal Community Development Block Grant, which has gradually declined about 20 percent from a high of more than $1 million a decade ago, she said.
The deputy director's position will remain vacant.
Fisher will keep some of those duties and others will be shifted to the department's finance and personnel manager.
