YOUNGSTOWN Officials set up youth sports program



YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Area Community Action Council is taking registrations for this year's summer National Youth Sports Program.
Activities include swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football and Rollerblading.
Participants will get free medical exams and screenings, two hot meals and a snack each day, T-shirts, go on field trips, hear from guest speakers and receive instruction on nutrition, lifeguard training, instruction on drug and alcohol awareness instruction and tutoring in math and science.
Details: The program is for youths who are at least 10 by Aug. 31 and not older than 17 by May 30 and the household must qualify as low income.
The program will run from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 11 to July 19 at Youngstown State University. Bus service from WRTA will be provided.
The program is limited to the first 300 youths who sign up.
Interested families can register between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the action council office at 101 Federal Plaza East, Suite 200.
Parents must bring:
UDocumentation on income for all members of the household for the past three months.
UMedical or HMO card.
UImmunization records.
UBirth certificate or other proof of child's age.
USocial Security cards for all household members.
