Red and White Ball proceeds to benefit local programs



Henry P. Nemenz is serving as honorary chairman of the black-tie event.
LIBERTY -- The Mahoning County Chapter of the American Red Cross will sponsor its annual Red and White Ball April 27 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre.
Henry P. Nemenz is this year's honorary chairman. Nemenz is the president and founder of Nemenz Family Foods. He serves on the board of directors for Youngstown Area Grocers and Ohio Grocers associations.
Background: He is a past president of the Poland Rotary, chairman of its Chili Open board and recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow.
Nemenz was recognized as Citizen of the Year in 1989 by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. Other recognitions received by Nemenz was Small-Business Person of the Year in 1987 and Outstanding Individual Philanthropist in 1994.
The ball will feature a silent and live auction. Participants may bid on various trips, vacation homes and sporting events.
Special attraction: Guests also will have an opportunity to view the "Stars and Stripes Forever" 2002 Cavalier, a one-of-a-kind car painted with the American flag to be raffled off in September. Tickets may be obtained from the Mahoning County Chapter throughout the summer.

Proceeds from the ball, a black-tie event, will be used to fund local programs provided by the Mahoning County Chapter, such as disaster services, emergency assistance for military families, and health and safety programs.
In charge: Thomas Will is chairman of the ball, and John Donchess is co-chairman. Serving as chairmen of various committees are Florence Wang, Richard Lis, Dr. Jenifer Lloyd, Helen Paes, John Grdic, Ann Might, Carlton Sears, John MacIntosh, Kelly Becker-Rumberg and John Massie.
