Diocese to present Eagle Award

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will present the Eagle of the Cross Award to 27 high school students. The awards will be presented by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish during a banquet after a Mass.
The award from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry is the highest recognition a diocese may confer on a youth.
It is given to extraordinary high school juniors and seniors who serve their peers.
Anyone can nominate a Catholic youth for the Eagle of the Cross. This year 69 essays, nominating 56 teen-agers, were submitted.
