LISBON -- A Center Township woman was to be charged today in the shooting of a Columbiana County man.
Deputies arrested the 43-year-old woman at her home on St. Jacob Logtown Road about 3 a.m. Thursday, Sheriff Dave Smith said.
The shooting occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities said she is to be charged with felonious assault.
She was in the county jail pending a court appearance today.
The shooting happened at the home of the victim, Tom Rice, of state Route 7, Madison Township.
His age wasn't immediately available, although authorities think he's in his 50s.
Condition: Rice was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with multiple wounds. The hospital is not releasing information.
Smith said he has been told Rice is in critical condition.
The sheriff wouldn't say how many times Rice was shot or where. He also wouldn't say what kind of gun was used.
Rice and the woman know each other, but they were not involved in a relationship, Smith said.
"These two had some problems," Smith said. "She rented some property off him at one time, and he had to evict her" in November or December, Smith said.
After the shooting, Rice was taken by his son to East Liverpool City Hospital.
Rice told his son who shot him and the son, who police won't identify, relayed the information to investigators.
Earlier case: This is the second shooting in a week in the county.
On Sunday, a Knox Township man went on a shooting rampage in a mobile home park off U.S. 62, just east of Alliance.
The episode, sparked by domestic strife, resulted in the death of a 42-year-old woman who lived in the park.
Charges have yet to be filed in that case. It is the first homicide in the county this year.
