Applications sought for Soap Box Derby

MINERAL RIDGE -- Pre-registration is now being accepted for the Greater Youngstown Area Soap Box Derby Spring Rally.
The race will be held April 27 and 28 on Seaborn Street, next to the Mineral Ridge Fire Station, 3588 Main Street.
Races will begin at 9 a.m., and pre-registration can be made through the GYASBD, Rally Registration, P.O. Box 1593, Youngstown, 44501.
Fliers and applications are available at the Weathersfield township administration building.
Race divisions are stock, super stock and masters. The cost is $30 for the first driver and $25 for the second entrant in the same family per day.
Entrants should make checks payable to GYASB, and should include a birth certificate if it is not already on file.
The event is being co-sponsored by Lane Funeral Home, Lane LifeTRANS, Kiwanis Club of Uptown Youngstown and others.
The field is limited to 36 stock, 24 super stock and 24 masters participants.
Registration and check-in will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. both days at Seaborn Street and Main Street.
Trophies will be awarded to the top eight in each division.
