Post office plans extended hours for last-minute income tax filers

YOUNGSTOWN -- The main Youngstown post office will be open until midnight Monday so people filing their state and federal income tax returns at the last minute can get the April 15th cancellation mark.
The main office at 99 S. Walnut St. will have a clerk stationed in the parking lot to accept mail from drive-through customers.
For customers who need to purchase postage or have their mail weighed, a clerk will be stationed at the office's lobby window. Stamps can also be purchased from vending equipment. All mail deposited up until midnight will receive an April 15 cancellation date.
The IRS will have volunteers on hand in the lobby Monday evening to help customers with any questions they may have.
Lobbies at the Boardman, Poland, Cornersburg and Austintown post offices will be open 24 hours for the purchase of postage from vending machines.
In Boardman, tax returns are to be deposited in the collection boxes outside the main entrance or in the two additional boxes at the rear of the building before midnight.
In Poland, tax returns are to be deposited in the collection boxes outside the main entrance.
Cornersburg and Austintown customers should deposit tax returns in the collection boxes outside the main entrance before midnight.
