Club Hollywood winsJr. Olympic meet
The Club Hollywood 16s volleyball team, coached by club director Rich Wyman, recently won their third Junior Olympic tournament of the season by beating Mid-Ohio, North Central and East Side VBC.
Club Hollywood went undefeated in match and pool play. Players competing were Joel Miller, Krista Reeder, Vicki Hink, Jill Barry, Allie Rich, Lauren Brobeck, Katie Kibby and Jenna Peppel.
The team also advanced into the silver bracket at the Cleveland State University Open.
Chris Millironto Baldwin-Wallace
BEREA -- Chris Milliron, a wide receiver and defensive back for the Mineral Ridge High football team will play football at Baldwin-Wallace College.
Milliron (5-foot-10, 170 pounds), a three-year letterman, caught 27 passes for 433 yards and one touchdown, and made 110 tackles with three interceptions and five fumble recoveries his senior season. He was named to the All-Trumbull County first team and the All-Inter-County League second team.
Milliron also was a member of the Mineral Ridge weightlifting team, winning a 175-pound league championship and placing fourth at the Northeast Ohio Regional Meet.
He also played two years of basketball, and is on the track and field team.
Vicarel re-elected
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Northeast District Officials Committee re-elected Fred Vicarel to a three-year term as district secretary of officials.
Vicarel oversees 6,000 high school officials in the 14-county district and serves as the liaison to the OHSAA.
Punt, pass & amp; kick
GIRARD -- The Ohio Browns Boosters will sponsor a punt, pass & amp; kick contest for children ages 5-12 during the NFL Draft Day party April 20 at the Creekside Golf Dome.
Deadline to register is Wednesday. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. For more information, call 1-866-BROWNS1.
Former Browns Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield plus Browns running back Ben Gay will attend the party.
Lou DaVanzoto Ashland
ASHLAND -- Lou DaVanzo, running back and linebacker for the Poland High football team, will attend Ashland University.
A three-year starter, DaVanzo (6-1, 200) was a two-time selection to the All-Northeast Ohio and All-Metro Athletic Conference first teams.
He scored four touchdowns and rushed for 200 yards in one game, and had three TDs and 243 yards rushing in another contest.
He helped the Bulldogs to a 32-6 record over three seasons, including 11-2 last year, and to the 1999 state championship and two MAC titles.
He is the son of Brenda and Rick DaVanzo.
Playboyz winflag tournament
STRUTHERS -- The Playboyz defeated Kuruption 45-2 to win the Valley Sports Limited double-elimination flag football league championship tournament.
On the winning team, which won all three of its tournament games, was Rick Lobaugh, Matt Lobaugh, Steve Brown, James Paris and Baton Reynolds.
Soap Box Derbyto hold clinic
BOARDMAN -- The Greater Youngstown Area Soap Box Derby will hold a construction clinic along with a rules class at the Boardman Holiday Inn Wednesday at 7 p.m.
All racers can attend the session. The race is open to boys and girls age 9-16 who reside in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties.
The local run is June 15-16.

Rock announcesHOF inductees
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- A pair of men who had previously been inducted into a national hall of fame headline the list of eight inductees of the Slippery Rock University Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2002.
The SRU class includes John Carpenter, a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America Hall of Fame and Robert Hannan, a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Pirates to signat card show
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Five Hall of Fame athletes and four Pittsburgh Pirates will sign autographs April 26-28 at Robert Morris College.
Athletes include former Steeler Ernie Stautner, baseball's Bob Gibson and Robin Roberts, former Packer Paul Hornung, former Brown Dante Lavelli, current Pirates Jack Wilson, Craig Wilson, Kris Benson, Mike Lincoln and former Pirate Rick Rhoden.
