COLUMBIANA COUNTY Confrontation leaves one dead, one injured

ALLIANCE -- A Columbiana County woman is dead, and the man suspected of shooting her is hospitalized.
Authorities think a domestic dispute triggered the gunfire that killed Teresa Stoffer, said Pete Whitmore, chief Columbiana County deputy sheriff.
The county sheriff's office was called about 6 p.m. Sunday to the Rogers Mobile Home Park along U.S. 62 in Knox Township, just east of the Alliance city limits.
The unidentified caller said a man in the park was shooting a rifle.
At the scene: Dozens of law enforcement officers from different departments converged on the scene, Whitmore said this morning.
Included among the law enforcement agencies was the Alliance Police Department SWAT unit, Whitmore said.
Authorities surrounded the park, and the SWAT unit entered two mobile homes located across a drive from each other, Whitmore said.
One trailer belonged to Angela Doak, the other to Stoffer.
Stoffer was found outside her trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Dave Smith declined this morning to say how many times Stoffer had been shot.
She is believed to have been a friend of Doak's, Whitmore said.
Inside Doak's mobile home, authorities found Gregory Doak, 44, a Knox Township resident, whose address is undetermined.
Doak is Angela's estranged husband and the suspect in Stoffer's shooting, Whitmore said.
Wounds: Doak had multiple gunshot wounds to his body that police think were self-inflicted.
No law enforcement officer fired his firearm during the episode, Whitmore said.
Doak was armed with a .223-caliber semiautomatic rifle that was equipped with a 30-round magazine, Whitmore said. The firearm, which authorities declined to further identify, belonged to Doak.
Authorities said they think Doak fired about 20 rounds from the rifle during the episode.
No one besides Stoffer and Doak was hit by gunfire, Whitmore said.
Doak was taken without incident and transported to Alliance City Hospital and then to Akron General, where he underwent surgery.
Smith said today that he thinks Doak is in critical condition. Akron General authorities were unable to confirm his presence at the hospital.
Residents: There are about 30 mobile homes in the park. A home next to Angela Doak's was hit by a bullet, Whitmore said.
Angela Doak apparently fled the scene and went to the Sebring Police Department, but authorities aren't sure when that occurred, Whitmore said.
Some residents at the park fled when the shooting started. Others took cover in their homes, he added.
The investigation is continuing, and charges could be filed today, Whitmore said.
Investigators are probing Doak's background.
Authorities had been called to the mobile home park earlier this year regarding complaints about unwanted visits by Doak, Whitmore said.
