STEUBENVILLE Old Fort Steuben Festival planned

STEUBENVILLE -- The 12th annual Old Fort Steuben Festival will be June 8 and 9 downtown.
The festival features historical re-enactments, demonstrations, music, crafts and food.
Tours of Old Fort Steuben, with complete lectures on its history, also will be available.
The original Fort Steuben was built in 1786 to house Army units that were there to protect surveyors. The fort was named for Gen. Friedrich William von Steuben, the organizer of the U.S. Army during the War for Independence.
The "First American Regiment" group, Revolutionary War re-enactors, will be quartered on the ground. Period crafters, blacksmiths, candle makers, spinners and weavers will be demonstrating. Also planned are modern craft displays and live stage entertainment.
The site of the festival is Third and Market streets in downtown Steubenville, where the fort is being rebuilt in the likeness of the original structure.
