Survivor to speak
HOWLAND -- Bill Vegh, a Jew who survived the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, will be the guest speaker when the Howland Community Church gathers to remember the Holocaust at 7 p.m. Sunday. Most of Vegh's family died at Auschwitz. He moved to the United States in 1948. The official Holocaust Remembrance Day is Tuesday.
Players to perform
YOUNGSTOWN -- Covenant Players will bring Christian drama into worship at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Austintown Community Church. The theater group from Oxnard, Calif., has performed internationally.

Former medium speaks
NEW WATERFORD -- Ben Alexander will discuss his experiences as a former spiritualist medium at the Lake Mount Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday. He's the author of the book, "Out From Darkness."
Nature events
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen will present a "Spring Walk and Earth Day Event" on April 21. The walk on the nature trails at Villa Maria Community Center is from 2 to 4 p.m.

Prayer brunch

Healing Mass set
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Healing Mass will be celebrated in St. Casimir Church at 11 a.m. April 17. The anointing of the sick, elderly and the troubled will take place. A light lunch will be served after the services.
Church reopens
GIRARD -- New Horizon Church of God, 429 Ohio Ave., has reopened. Services are at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. The Rev. Jack Slater Jr. is the new pastor. The church is looking for a piano and organ. Call (330) 898-5908.
Food collection
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- The youth group and evangelism team of Emmanuel Lutheran Church recently collected more than 600 food items for the Springfield Township Food Bank which serves approximately 60 local families each month. The items were collected March 23 during a scavenger hunt.
Relief funding
YOUNGSTOWN -- Catholic Relief Services, the official overseas relief and development agency of the United States Catholic Bishops, has asked Catholics and others of good will to donate money to help people in Afghanistan and Pakistan. CRS is committed to raising $50 million in order to meet the needs of the Afghan people. To date, the Diocese of Youngstown has raised more than $6,400.
