Mercer CAA seeking to move offices

SHARON, Pa. -- The Mercer County Community Action Agency wants the city to help it get financing to move its offices from A Street to 84 S. Dock St.
Ronald Errett, chief executive officer, told city council Thursday that the building, owned by the county and now housing offices of the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission, will be available later this year at a price of $260,000.
Behavioral health is closing its office there, he said.
The building has been appraised at $240,000 and MCCAA figures the total project cost will be $260,000, he said.
MCCAA can come up with $130,000, but it needs help financing the rest, he said, asking the city to consider filing an application for funding from a new state capital budget bill now in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Errett said his agency is leasing its current space but needs more room and wants to stay in Sharon.
Councilman Lou Rotunno said the city should help. He suggested that the first step will be to get a second appraisal of the property to make sure the $260,000 figure is a fair cost.
Council took no action on the grant application request.
