CAMPBELL -- A gunman wearing an orange knit hunting cap, a fake beard and a red-and-white striped shirt stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Pay Day Cash Advance, 669 McCartney Road, just before noon Monday. A clerk told police the man walked up to the counter and thrust a yellow plastic bag from the Dollar General store at her and told her to put all the money into it.
According to police reports, the clerk saw a black handgun in the man's right hand. He left the building heading east through the parking lot. Police located a man who fits the robber's description in Video Update, but the clerk could not identify him. After a search of the man's car, he was released. Police recovered a fake beard and red-and-white striped shirt in a trash bin behind Oven Fresh Pizza.
Gunfire, firebombs
YOUNGSTOWN -- Someone attacked the South Side home of a 55-year-old woman with firebombs and gunfire. City police and firefighters were called to the Hilton Avenue home about 4:40 a.m., where they found two small fires in front of the house.
Boys find loaded gun
CAMPBELL -- Two 13-year-old boys found a loaded handgun in a field where they were playing around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police reports show.
The boys told police they found the gun in an open area at the corner of Wilson and Second streets and they thought it was a toy. When they discovered two bullets loaded in the clip, the boys removed them and discarded the ammunition in a mud puddle.
Police recovered the two live rounds after the boys showed them where they had found the gun and thrown the bullets. The serial number had been scratched off.
Store burglary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The owner of an East Side Red & amp; White store reported to city police that someone had stolen $300 in quarters during a break-in. Nothing else appeared to be missing when police and the owner responded to an alarm at the Lansdowne Boulevard store at about 10:50 p.m. Thursday, police reports show.
