TRAFICANT TRIAL

TRAFICANT TRIAL
Early departures
U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr.'s stop-and-go defense began the afternoon of March 21. Here is how many times U.S. District Judge Lesley Brooks Wells sent the jury home early because the congressman ran out of defense witnesses:
March 21: Jury sent home early and told to return March 25.
March 22: Jury given day off. Traficant failed to have two witnesses in court who were to give testimony without the jury present.
March 25-26: Jury sent home early.
March 29: No court session.
April 1-3: Jury sent home early.
