FORUM HEALTH AT HOME Many rely on program for meals, other services

For many seniors, the Hotmeals driver is the only person they see during the day.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Hotmeals program of Forum Health at Home delivered its 2 millionth meal today.
The Forum Health Hotmeals program delivers more than 900 meals a week to eligible seniors older than 60, about 225 at 12 aggregate sites and some 700 home deliveries, said Stephen Jones, director of FHH.
The Area Agency on Aging Ohio District XI contracts with Forum Health at Home to provide the meals in Mahoning County.
"Many seniors look forward to seeing the Hotmeals driver because, in many cases, it is the only person they see during the day," Jones said.
"By receiving home-delivered meals, along with other services available through Forum Health at Home, seniors are able to remain independent for a longer period of time," Jones added.
Other services: In addition to delivering meals, Forum Health at Home provides a variety of other services.
More than 400 employees, including registered and licensed practical nurses, home health aides and therapists, provide pediatric care, intravenous therapy, medication monitoring, personal care, medical social services, nutrition counseling, respite care homemaking help, bereavement care for adults and children, spiritual support, chemotherapy, pain management, and even pet therapy.
