S. Side man found dead in home after being shot

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police found a 22-year-old Youngstown man in a pool of blood just inside his front door shortly before midnight Friday.
He was wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt and white socks, and had apparently been shot in the head, chest and buttocks, reports say.
Scottie Hornbuckle, of 733 Parkview Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shell casings from two weapons were found within a few yards of the his body. It is the 23rd homicide this year in Youngstown. There had been 22 homicides at this time last year.
The scene: A friend of the victim was standing in the street, crying hysterically "my boy is dead," when the officers arrived in response to a report of shots being fired on Parkview Avenue, reports say.
The friend told police that he had been with Hornbuckle earlier that evening, and had left to pick up chicken from a drive-through on Glenwood Avenue. When he returned, he approached the house with two other people who had arrived just after him.
They all walked in and found Hornbuckle dead, the man said. He told police he returned to the drive-through to call 911.
He also told police that $1,500 laying on the victim's living room coffee table appeared to be missing, reports say.
