Raps OHSAA decisionto play sports Sept. 14Fanfare:
It was absolutely astonishing that the Ohio High School Athletic Assoc. condoned the playing of H.S. football last Friday (September 14), the day President Bush announced it would be a day of mourning and prayer. There was a terrible tragedy that happened in our country. It was a time to tend to families and friends and everyone that was wounded by this horrific act of terrorism, not play H.S. football. I believe that the OHSAA left schools no choice but to play when they said it was their decision. There was no reason why the season could not have been extended a week and still have a ten game regular season. The whole country decided not to play organized sports, professional and college, because it was not the right time or place. Many Americans where in vigil and prayer to honor the most deadly disaster in the U.S., and the search continued in NY for missing bodies with the hope of life, but back home on the verge of WW III, our main concern was playing H.S. football.

Gratifying to see fanspay tribute to victims
Fanfare:
I'm sure we can debate the issue of whether high school football games should have been played last Friday. It was so gratifying to see 12,000 plus fans at the Ursuline/Warren Harding football game pay silent tribute to those victims of terrorist. I am sure the same scenario was the same at all of our high school football games played on Friday and Saturday.
America is alive and will continue to live.
