YOUNGSTOWN -- The marriage of Amy Cooke and James Whirrett, both of Austintown, took place Sept. 1 at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, and a reception was held afterward at the Avalon Inn and Resort in Howland.
The Rev. Suzanne Hill presided at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Carolyn and Joseph Artle of Damascus and the late Larry Cooke and the son of Dave and Lee Whirrett of Vienna.
The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Eric Wellington, wore a strapless white gown embellished with pearls and beading.
Kimberly Scott, the bride's sister and honor attendant, wore a wine-colored gown, as did the bridesmaids, Lisa Wellington, her sister-in-law, and Susan Peden, the groom's sister. The junior attendant was her niece, Jessica Scott.
The duties of best man were performed by Todd Bahr, and serving as groomsmen were Rob Crump and John DePinto. Junior attendant was Macen Whirrett, the groom's son. Kyle Scott was ring bearer, and Shawn Scott ushered guests. Both are nephews of the bride.
The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico, and live in Austintown.
The bride graduated from Youngstown State University with an associate degree in business management and is a broker's assistant with Morgan Stanley Investments in Akron.
The groom, an auto worker at General Motors Corp. in Lordstown, attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
