DOMESTIC PUBLIC AGENCIES
Cost: $0 to $2,500.Includes: Travel, attorney fees. Some can be reimbursed with federal and state subsidies.
DOMESTIC PRIVATE AGENCIES
Cost: $4,000 to $30,000.Includes: Birth parent counseling, adoptive parent home study, birth expenses, post-placement supervision, agency costs. May be less expensive for families who find their own birth parent or use agencies that do only certain procedures, such as the home study.
INTERCOUNTRY ADOPTIONS
(private agency or independent adoptions)Cost: $7,000 to $25,000.Includes: Agency, immigration processing and dossier fees, court costs, child foster care, travel, escorting fees, medical care.
