Sharon puts up 63 in rout of Mercer
SHARON -- Mike Schneider connected on 13-of-21 passes for 287 yards and five touchdowns as the Sharon High football team trounced Mercer 63-0 Friday in a Mercer County Athletic Conference game.
The Tigers (4-1, 4-0) built a 49-0 lead by intermission.
Schneider's TD strikes went to Gary Malgieri for 10 and 55 yards, to Leroy Taylor for 51 and 10 yards and to Richard Manning for 20 yards.
The Tigers' Todd Poterfield rushed for 78-yards on nine carries, which included TD runs of 13 and 5 yards.
Sharon accumulated 177 rushing and 287 passing yards, compared to Mercer's (0-5) 39 rushing and 41 passing.
Freeport 16, Mohawk 14: FREEPORT -- Talam Conjack caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Luke Westerman with 53 seconds remaining to help the Jackets (2-3).
Senior Mitch Gasperoni ran 21 times for 150 yards and his 5-yard touchdown gave the Warriors (3-2) a 7-3 lead at the break.
Travis Bessell also had 49 yards rushing and scored a 30-yard touchdown for Mohawk.
