HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER Pakula's goal nets Canfield 1-0 win



The Cardinals' victory over Poland kept them undefeated in the Metro Athletic Conference.
CANFIELD -- Mark Pakula scored in the beginning of the second half Tuesday as the Canfield High boys defeated Poland, 1-0, in a Metro Athletic Conference soccer match.
Aaron Bestic assisted as Pakula scored from 10 yards out for the Cardinals (4-4-2, 3-0-1).
Canfield out-shot the Bulldogs, 20-7. Mark Kime had four saves in goal for Canfield while Josh Pridon had seven saves for Poland (1-7-2, 1-2-1).
Crestview 1, Beaver Local 1: LISBON -- Chris Cook scored in the second half for the Rebels (5-6) to pull them into the tie. Josh Seevers scored in the first half for the Beavers (3-5).
Badger 3, Lakeview 0: KINSMAN -- Kyle Arnold, Eric Klingemier and Tim Smith scored a goal apiece for the Braves (5-4-1, 2-1-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Nathan Raught and Arnold each had an assist.
Goalkeeper Josh Upshire made eight saves. Lakeview had nine shots on goal, compared to seven for the Braves.
Girls: YOUNGSTOWN -- Sophomore Brittny Humphrey scored two goals as Liberty High School clipped Maplewood, 6-1.
Humphrey has 23 goals for the season. She also assisted on another goal.
Also scoring were seniors Rachael Tharp and Melisa Klemann and freshmen Amy Banner and Amber White.
Cindi Tochtenhagen, Brianna Hidet and Abby Mirkin each had an assist for the Leopards (4-5-2). Goalkeepers Tharp had 11 saves and Hidet had three.
Senior Jenna Governor scored a goal off an assist by Dianna Holmes. Liberty had 24 shots on goal.
